So Michael Sam received the Arthur Ashe Award for courage last night at the ESPY Awards and talked about having the courage to be yourself. Do you look to him as a sort of inspiration given what you went through with accepting yourself?
Oh definatly, what he said really meant a great deal to me and if I had heard something like that a few years ago, I wouldn’t have gone down the path I did.
I don’t care what your sexuality is, you should look up to him also.
Do you think zero tolerance bullying policies should be in place in more schools?
Actually yeah I do, but only if the teachers/staff actually stick to them. If it had been in place while at Mckinley then I would have got my ass together quicker i’m sure.
Do you have any tattoos? Have you ever considered getting one? If so what would you get it of?
I don’t have any tattoos at the moment, but i’m thinking of getting on in the future.
It would have some kind of positive message on it.
What the hell?
Do you like to do math equations?
I don’t think i’ve met anyone who does like doing math, even if it’s part of the course they are doing at college.
What would you do if you were trapped in a snow storm?
Just sit, watch something on TV and have a beer with whoever is with me at the time and wait it out. No point in going outside cos you’ll just be cold and miserable.
What's your favorite show right now?
Well since i’ve got with Netflix there are some shows i’m watching, they include:
Do you see yourself becoming a father someday?
Yeah I can definatly see that. It’s one of the things I most want to do next to getting married.
People don’t see me as a dad, it’s been said. But you’ll be suprised how much I change when i’m talking to a little two year old at the store who has bumped into me.
My boyfriend thinks it is cute.
If Sports Management doesn't pan out for whatever the reason what do you consider your 'back up' career?
Hmm good question.
There are a few things, I mean I would have got a degree anyway so I could always end up doing a masters or another degree in something to increase my knowledge. It’s what my dad did anyway.
I would need to do more research, but I might try and do law. Not become a courtroom judge or anything, but maybe a solicitor or do sports law.
So many options.
What do you think is the most important thing about a relationship?
You need to trust each other man. Don’t go be one of those people who asks where your boyfriend or girlfriend is going all the time. Don’t wonder about if they are having an affair or something. That will only push people away.
Also finding them attractive helps.
